Miele1) Bicycles was started by Jim Miele and family of Toronto, Canada in 1982, producing quality copies of Italian race bikes mostly made locally. Miele of Canada licensed the name from the German Miele industrial conglomerate, which made millions of bicycles from the 1920's and ending in the 1960's. Miele went into bankruptcy and ceased operations by 1996 and was subsequently bought by Procycle, later renamed Rocky Mountain. Jim Miele passed away January 12, 2003 in Toronto, Ontario. The Miele Bicycle brand was resurrected by Procycle from 2002 → 2019 2).
