Tange
Yasujiro Tange founded Tange Iron Works Co., Ltd. in 1920 near Osaka, Japan, producing bicycle forks and CroMo tubing. In 1997 Tange1) of Japan was sold to Shenzhen Tange of Taiwan and later most production was moved to Taiwan.
In the 1980s, more high-end mountain bikes sported a Tange sticker than of any other tubing manufacturer, as mountain bike mass production was moved to Taiwan and strong relationships were established with their neighbors and US partners. Tom Ritchey developed his Ritchey Logic Tubing in 1990 using Tange Prestige tubing with custom bi-directional butting. Italian manufacturers, such as Pinarello & Colnago, have also used Tange tubing.
Tange tubing remains available in the US from Merry Sales.
Michiaki Tange, the son of Yasujiro Tange, split Tange Sekei off of his father's company to focus on bottom brackets and headset in 1979 which are still made in Osaka to this day. Tange Seiki continues to be run the Tange family today.
